CT scan

Computed tomography is an imaging diagnostic that combines the functions of an X-ray machine and the advantages of the most modern computer technology.

Classical radiography is able to display an X-rayed object (body part) that is three-dimensional only in a two-dimensional image. Computed tomography is able to display a three-dimensional object in three dimensions and also mainly in cross-section. Thanks to this, CT can be used to diagnose a diverse spectrum of diseases - for example, primarily bone and joint diseases (degenerative, inflammatory, tumor diseases), nasal cavity diseases (inflammatory, tumor, traumatic - skull injury), then to diagnose diseases of the central nervous system (brain tumors, hydrocephalus, etc., herniated intervertebral discs, vertebral fractures, vertebral tumors), and last but not least, to diagnose soft tissue diseases (mainly for diagnosing lung cancer - e.g. metastasis of mammary gland tumor; various neoplasms of the abdominal cavity and pelvis), the list of all possibilities is then closed by the diagnosis of vascular disorders - mainly in the abdominal and thoracic cavities.
